Jewish Quarter
The disappearance of the Jewish community is a sad event that is difficult to understand but important to remember. Throughout the city, you will come across small brass plaques set into the pavement in front of several houses. These markers are called “stolpersteine” or “tripping stones,” each noting a person who was taken from that house, his/her birthdate, year of being taken and what ultimately befell him/her. They are an ever-present reminder of that tragedy in Aub’s history.
Continue along the street until it comes back to Hauptstrasse. Turn right at Hauptstrasse and follow the street up the hill to the top, where you will find the Schloss (Palace).
