Former Synagogue
Once one of the better-known Jewish communities in Germany, little evidence of it remains today. On the corner of Hauptstrasse and Neuertgasse, opposite the Catholic church, is the ruin of the former synagogue. Further down the Neuertgasse was the Yeshiva.
Continue down Neuertgasse. On this street is a house on the right side (marked with a plaque) in which Caspar Bausewein was born. He was a court opera singer in Munich at the time Wagner’s operas were presented to the public for the first time and originated some of the most memorable roles in opera history.
